Most pets will undergo surgery at least once in their life. While some procedures that pets undergo are more common than others, there is no such thing as a “routine” surgery. This is because every pet is different and their needs while undergoing a procedure vary.
Patient safety and comfort are our top priorities during any anesthetic procedure. An anesthetic protocol is created for each patient, tailored to the length and type of procedure, as well as their body and physiology. Pain control is used both during and after the procedure to keep your pet comfortable and allow for better post-surgical healing.
Hamlin Animal Hospital is equipped to perform a variety of surgical procedures including:
· Spays and neuters
· Mass removals
· and other non-emergency surgeries
Our veterinary team will walk you through the entire process, giving you the tools to make informed decisions regarding your pet’s treatment options. We understand that surgery is a stressful time for any owner, and we’re available every step of the way to answer questions and put your mind at ease.
Not all surgical procedures can be planned for ahead of time and sometimes surgery is needed without a whole lot of notice. While we do our best to accommodate any emergency, there are times when your pet may need care before we can offer it. There are also situations when a pet may need a procedure that we feel is best left to a board-certified veterinary surgeon. In these situations, we will refer you and your pet to the emergency clinic, or a veterinary specialist to receive treatment.
